Dental Hygiene & Gum Health
Our in-house hygiene and periodontal services are complementary to your at-home brushing and flossing routines. During a routine hygiene visit, we will clean your teeth, examine your gums, and provide you with guidance on how to maintain great oral health in between visits. We provide hygiene and gum health services for patients of all ages. We are here to help you and your children learn how to achieve healthy smiles for life!
Bonding & White Fillings
Over the years, technology for bonding and fillings has advanced, producing more aesthetically appealing results for patients. In lieu of traditional amalgam fillings, our practice offers patients composite fillings and bonding services. This method uses a composite resin material to repair damage from decay, a crack, or to close gaps between teeth. This type of filling is matched to the natural color of your teeth, and when properly maintained can last upwards of ten years.
Whitening & Bleaching
Many factors can affect the luminescence and brightness of your smile. This includes coffee, tea, smoking, age, and medication. While there are many whitening products on the market, nothing produces beautiful results quite like professional whitening treatments. Our practice provides tray whitening systems to help patients restore whiteness to their smile.
Veneers
For patients looking to rejuvenate their smile and achieve long-lasting, natural-looking results, veneers are a great restorative option. A dental veneer is a thin ceramic shell that covers the existing tooth structure. It can be used to correct staining, spaces between teeth, chips, or cracks. Because veneers are bonded to the front of your teeth, this provides you with a beautiful, permanent restoration option.
Bridges
If you have lost teeth from gum disease, injury, or decay, we may utilize a dental bridge to restore aesthetics and structure to your smile. When left untreated, gaps in your smile can lead to greater problems for your oral health, as it can cause your remaining teeth to shift. This can cause pain, discomfort, and unsightliness. A bridge looks and acts like your natural teeth and is permanently cemented to your teeth.
Crowns
Dental crowns are a common restoration option for patients with severely damaged or decayed teeth which cannot be repaired with fillings or bonding. A crown covers the remaining tooth structure and restores its function and aesthetics. A crown can be made from a variety of materials including porcelain, porcelain fused to metal, or gold. For the most natural look, porcelain is the most popular option, but different materials are used depending on what area of your mouth is being restored.
Dentures
Dentures are recommended for patients who have lost most or all of their natural teeth. While it can be hard to lose your natural teeth, dentures can help restore beauty, function, and health to your smile. With a set of custom dentures, you can regain your ability to eat and talk regularly. Our dentist and team will work with you to create dentures which fit comfortably and naturally in your mouth.
Extractions
Also known as the third molars, wisdom teeth are the furthest back in the smile. These teeth are prone to erupting at an angle and can cause alignment issues with the rest of your teeth. In addition, wisdom teeth can also cause overcrowding or become impacted. This is often the reason wisdom teeth are removed — to maintain the aesthetics and health of your smile. Situations do arise that require the removal of other teeth as well. To determine if your wisdom teeth, or any other teeth need to be extracted, Dr. Johnson will evaluate your mouth and then work with you to determine a treatment plan.
Dental Implants
Dental implants provide stable replacement options for patients missing teeth. When properly taken care of, dental implants can provide you with a permanent tooth replacement option. The implant consists of a titanium post which is surgically inserted into your jawbone. The post serves as a replacement tooth root. As your mouth heals, the post bonds to your jawbone, providing an anchor for a replacement crown. In order to receive dental implants, you must have sufficient bone structure to support the posts.
Inlays & Onlays
An inlay or onlay is used to restore structure to a decayed or damaged tooth. Both are types of custom fillings which strengthen your tooth structure and give it the ability to withstand chewing forces. These restorations can be made from materials such as composite material, gold, or tooth-colored porcelain. For some patients, this is an ideal alternative to dental crowns, as an inlay or onlay requires less tooth structure to be removed in preparation.
Night Guards
If you or your significant other grind your teeth in your sleep, a protective night guard may be able to relieve your jaw pain and prevent damage to your tooth structure. We create custom night guards to ensure our patients sleep comfortably while wearing them. Night guards are similar to our custom mouthguards, but serve the purpose of keeping your jaw aligned while you are sleeping.
Protective Mouth Guards
The last thing you should have to worry about when the game starts is if your mouth and teeth are protected. With our custom protective mouth guards, you can hit the field, court, rink, or diamond with confidence. Dr. Johnson and our staff will work with you to create a custom-fitted, comfortable mouth guard to help prevent damage to your teeth and jaw in the event of a collision or accident while you’re in the game.
